Visions 2045 pursues the goal of accompanying schools on their way to climate neutrality. A holistic approach is taken to make them drivers and role models in reducing their carbon footprint and to engage them in reaching local climate and energy targets in collaboration with local authorities.
As major CO2 emitters in municipalities, schools play a special role: They are large consumers of energy, but they are also the place where future generations are educated. To achieve a transition, to enable them to harness their self-efficacy and to reduce their carbon footprint, a dedicated training approach and manuals are prepared and tested. Based on climate checks and vision workshops in schools, roadmaps are developed. The goals of the roadmaps are then transferred into action plans in which responsibilities are defined. One pilot action per school from the respective action plan is then, together with municipalities and other local initiatives, put into practice. The project empowers different actors to work jointly on a much-needed transition, while schools also benefit from this local network to exchange experiences and new contacts.
